Educational Wine Tours
Your experience begins long before you arrive in wine country. We will plan your day of wine education and touring together, after discussing directly with you (via email or phone, whichever you prefer) your level of wine knowledge, goals and expectations for your visit, and what kind of wines you like and want to learn about, taste and take home.
I can take you to favorite wineries you wish to revisit, new wineries you are curious about or unique wineries you may never have heard of that I know you will enjoy based on your preferences. We will stop in vineyards and learn about grape growing and viticulture. As part of your education, I provide tasting guidelines and note sheets to help you keep a record of your winery visits.
Whether it is your first trip to wine country, or your tenth, I guarantee an experience that is informative, unique and unforgettable.
I am happy to arrange for a picnic lunch that can be enjoyed at one of our winery stops.
Wine country offers much more than just wineries, and Pemberley Wine Tours is more than just a limousine company. Having lived for over 15 years in Napa, I can help you find great restaurants, make lodging recommendations, and facilitate recreational activities (biking, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding).
I can help make arrangements to ship your wine home (provided you live in a state that allows wine to be shipped to its residents!).
Mix in a visit to one of the area’s great museums or galleries like The Di Rosa Preserve, The Napa Valley Museum, The Robert Louis Stevenson Museum, The Sharpsteen Museum, the Gordon Huether Gallery and more.
Sonoma Valley wine excursions can include a stop at the historic Jack London Park for a hike or tour of his cottage and farm. More history of Sonoma can be experienced in and around Sonoma Plaza at The Buena Vista Winery and Sebastiani Winery, as well as California’s northernmost Mission San Francisco Solano, and the Bear Flag monument to the short-lived California Republic.
Northern California is home to some of the world’s greatest micro breweries and I can take you to taste unique brews that can be found only at the brewery. Want to try the number one rated Imperial Ale in America? I’ll take you to the Russian River Brewery to try some Pliny The Elder on tap (ok technically, THE number one beer is Pliny the Younger, but this is only available at the brewery for two weeks in February each year). How about a visit to the original Lagunitas Brewery and brew pub or Healdsburg’s Bear Republic Brewing Company Brew Pub. Also on tap is Petaluma’s 101 North Brewing Company for some Heroine IPA?
And these are just the ones you have heard of. I am happy to craft a customized brew tour through Northern California’s beer country for you-salty snacks are included!
Whale Watching and Cheese Tours
Sonoma County is home to a thriving dairy industry and I can craft an itinerary visiting some of the region’s finest artisanal cheese makers. If you are visiting at the right time of year, tie this in with some whale watching along the Sonoma coast (trust me you want to do this….). I provide the spotting scope, binoculars, chairs, and comfy throws to keep you warm.
West Marin Tour
Visit spectacular Pt Reyes National Seashore and (with advance planning) enjoy an afternoon eating oysters at Hog Island’s Marshal oyster farm. Sauvignon Blanc? Bubbles? Beer? You alone can decide what pairs best with oysters harvested an hour ago, but everyone agrees you’ll enjoy this experience more with someone else driving you home.
